About Lisa

Hey there! I’m Lisa, and I’m a career strategy coach.

Lisa Lewis career coach green dress headshot tight cropI help big-hearted people who are feeling stuck in their current jobs find the work that “fits” who they are. I do this by helping you clarify who you are, what you want most, what a great job for you looks like, where to start your search, and how to make a transition in the easiest way possible.

The reason I do this work is that if your job qualifies as someone else’s “dream job”–  but not your own — you’re spending way too many hours every week at work to not make a change into work that will bring you joy.

My own journey started when I entered the working world after college and climbed my way up the corporate marketing ladder, like a good girl.

I put in the hours and rose quickly within the companies where I worked, keeping any hint of anything dissatisfaction hidden. But while I was trying so hard to make my job work, I was craving a life that felt more like me.

So I poured my energy and savings into amazing trips:

And it hit me: while travel was completely amazing (and something I still do), I wanted to know: what if I designed my work and life so that I didn’t constantly want to escape?

When my boss would ask me to work on Thanksgiving or jump right back into work hours after finding out my grandfather died, I could feel the rage blackout coming on, and something inside of me said, “there has got to be a better way”.

It wasn’t just me. It seemed like almost every one of my friends in their 20s and 30s was going through a period of crisis, wondering “Is this all there is? Will the next 30 years in the working world feel like this, too?

So I had a mission: figure out how to keep people from experiencing chronic anxiety, stress, frustration and pain around their work.

In my research, I began seeing certain trends across the board about work that employers weren’t talking about, and I knew I wanted to help people manage their career transitions as easily and peacefully as possible.

So after spending nearly a decade in digital marketing and becoming an expert in branding and advocacy, I made the pivot to launch my career coaching business so I could better tap into my own strengths: working 1-on-1 with individuals to figure out what kind of work fits you.

lisa lewis career coach dress washington dcOver the past few years, I’ve gotten my coaching training in the Pivot Method and the World Coaches Institute, and apprenticed with top career coaches so I can do the best possible work with — and for — you.

I’ve been officially running my coaching business since 2015, and in that time I have helped more than 250 individuals move into more fulfilling, yummy careers.

What you really need to know about me is…:

I believe it’s not just possible, but imperative to be happy in your job. I believe life is too short to settle for anything less than awesome in your work life. I believe stress should not be touted as a badge of honor. I believe we each have unique gifts and skills that the economy can recognize and reward.

And I believe that sometimes we need to give ourselves permission to take leaps in our careers — because smart risks can lead to big rewards. I don’t care whether you’re 34 or 64 years old: it is NOT too late to make a shift into doing work you actually want to do.

I do career coaching for people who want to stop outsourcing their own lives — and start actually living them.

The people I work with are craving the ability to live their most authentic, whole lives — and are ready to embrace the person inside who dreams, who isn’t afraid, who knows they’re meant for bigger and more fantastic things. Your inner professional badass, if you will.
